JOB TITLE: Accounting Assistant
LOCATION/DEPARTMENT: Lougheed Office – Finance
SUPERVISOR: Carol Graham
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for processing all Accounts Payable for the Lougheed Head Office in
accordance with company policies including coding, data entry, and filing. - Process the weekly cheque and EFT runs.
- Coordinate the period end AP close.
- Prepare AP related journal entries each period end close.
- Maintenance of vendor files.
- Communicate with vendors, employees and other AP staff to resolve inquiries.
- Prepare cheque requests with documentation for trade spend programs.
- Prepare GST/HST, MB PST, and QST returns.
- Responsible for providing general administrative support to the Lougheed team.
- Responsible for archiving AP files.
- Other finance and administrative duties as assigned from time to time.
- Front office reception.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 years experience in a junior AP or accounting position.
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Post Secondary education in Accounts Payable or Accounting an asset.
- Solid general computing skills, emphasis on MS Windows XP, Excel and Word 2007.
- Knowledge of and/or practical experience with Accpac software a definite asset.
- Knowledge of and/or experience preparing GST/HST, MB PST, and QST returns an asset.
- Proficient at data entry/management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good oral and written English skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical abilities combined with an attention to detail.
